Photos from Austria, 1968

By John Grundy

I’m sure I’m not alone in spending many lockdown hours sorting old slides, negatives and documents.  I’ve learn a lot about my own and my family’s lives through finding information either long forgotten or never revealed.

Today I unearthed the negatives of black and white photos that I took at the Austrian camp I led in 1968 – I can’t remember whether it was Austria 1 or Austria 2.  In fact there is a great deal I can’t remember.  It’s the only one of my three Austrian camps for which I have no written record, which is strange since I must have written a report.  Nor to my shame can I remember the names of any of the students on the camp, as seen in the photos.  The faces of the children are as fresh as if I’d seen them yesterday, but again, no names.

If it’s possible to add them to the Archive, there is I suppose a chance that someone else will see and recall some names.  It was a happy camp, and of course FD visited as usual.
